Happy New Year! I’ve never been too big on the hoopla around celebrating the new year (I went to bed last night at 11:30pm :-)), but I feel compeled to think about the good events that happened this past year and what I want to accomplish in 2013.
2012 was a good year for me. I helped plan a state-wide conference for women in higher education, graduated with my Master’s degree, got my first professional job a week out from graduation, went on my first cruise, moved to another state (with my boyfriend willingly coming with me), made new friends, kept in touch with old ones. Overall, I’m in a good place. After seven consecutive years, I’m learning what it’s like to not be a student while redefining what it means to be a full-time professional and adult. My boyfriend and I moved to Indiana back in June and for a while, I felt completely lost. What do I do with my free time? How do I find the energy to do more than just go to work? I’m getting better with making a point to not lose my passions after draining days at the office. Starting this blog was one of my efforts. It’s tough and I know I still have a lot to learn, but I’ll get there.
I’m excited for 2013. I’m looking forward to learning new things and finding balance in my life while embracing change as it comes. Bring it on 2013!
